ACES
Summit

2026
The Responsible Enterprise
Leadership, accountability and human judgement in an age of accelerated change.

The 2026 Conversation

Anchored in ACES Institute’s 2026 research across 300 ASEAN organisations, the Summit examines two shifts reshaping responsible enterprise across the region.

From Commitment to Proof

Across ASEAN, responsible business is advancing, but unevenly. Social practices are increasingly embedded and environmental action is more visible, yet much of the progress remains activity-led rather than outcome-led. Governance continues to be the critical credibility gap.
For leaders, the question is becoming more exacting:
Can the organisation demonstrate the substance behind what it claims?

From Capability to Accountability

AI is no longer simply a technology decision. It is changing how organisations hire, forecast, assess risk, allocate resources and make judgement calls, at different speeds across markets, industries and talent environments.
As its influence expands, leadership must determine where technology should inform a decision, where human judgement must prevail, and who remains accountable for the outcome.

How the Summit Works

A focused format built around leadership decisions, organisational experience and meaningful exchange.

Leadership VOICES

7-min TED-Style talks from leaders sharing real decisions, trade-offs and lessons from the field.

Facilitated Interviews

Guided interviews that draw out the decisions, tensions and lessons behind each leadership story.

Spotlight Showcases

One honest organisational story brought closer - the choice, the pressure, the proof, and the difference it made.

Roundtable Discussions

Guided table conversations on the questions leaders must answer, not just admire.

Leadership Pledges

Delegates close with one decision, behaviour or standard they will take forward.

Shared Reflections

Different perspectives from across the room, brought together.

Day 1 · The Responsible Enterprise: When Claims Meet Scrutiny

Responsible enterprise is no longer judged by intent alone. Across ASEAN, organisations are being asked to show how commitments translate into governance, decisions and measurable outcomes.

ACES Institute’s 2026 research across 300 ASEAN organisations points to a clear pattern: social practices are increasingly embedded and environmental action is more visible, yet progress often remains activity-led rather than outcome-led. Governance continues to be the critical credibility gap.

Day 1 examines what happens when claims are tested against evidence, when reporting must reflect behaviour, when doing the right thing carries commercial consequence, and when leaders must decide whether the organisation can genuinely stand behind what it says.

    Leadership VOICES #1
The Responsible Enterprise: When ESG Claims Outrun ESG Proof
Three focused 7-minute TED-style talks, followed by a facilitated interview.
As ASEAN grows, invests, urbanises and decarbonises, leaders face a harder question: what happens when the sustainability story advances faster than the evidence? Drawing from ACES Institute’s 2026 research, this session examines an ESG landscape that remains asymmetrical - where responsibility is becoming strategy, the social pillar is often strongest in language but weakest in measurement, and governance is emerging as the credibility gap. Leaders will share decisions made when claims had to be substantiated, corrected or slowed down before trust was lost.
What this session unpacks: when responsibility becomes strategy; when social impact is spoken of more than measured; when governance becomes the difference between a claim and proof.

    Leadership VOICES #2
The Trade-Offs Responsible Leaders Actually Make
Three focused 7-minute TED-style talks, followed by a facilitated interview.
Responsible enterprises are not built by frameworks alone. They are built when leaders accept a real trade-off - profitability versus principle, speed versus stewardship, control versus growing others. This session looks at what leaders had to give up, unlearn or defend to make responsibility last, including how they adapt to what Gen Z asks of leadership and build successors who will uphold the standard when pressure rises.
What this session unpacks: the instincts leaders had to unlearn; the price of doing the right thing; the people and standards they chose to build.

Proof Over Promise: When the Claim Had to Be Proven

    Roundtable Breakout Discussions:
Call-to-action: The Trust Behind Responsible Growth
Across guided discussions, delegates will examine the dilemmas behind responsible growth when intent is no longer enough. Each table will be assigned one focused question on commercial cost, claims that outrun evidence, or governance that changes a real decision. The discussion will culminate in one practical insight or shift in thinking for the later reflections and commitment.
    Point of Discussions
Roundtable Topic 1: What Responsibility Costs
Where is your organisation choosing principle of an easier commercial option - and what makes that cost defensible?
Roundtable Topic 2: When Sustainability Claims Get Ahead of Reality
Which claim would be hardest for your organisation to prove today - and what must change before trust is lost?
Roundtable Topic 3: Governance That Changes the Decision
Which governance reform would change a real decision - not merely strengthen the report?
Each table will distill its discussion into one sharp insight or shift in thinking for the later reflections and commitment.

Day 2 · Human Judgement in the Age of AI - When Capability Meets Accountability

AI is moving beyond automation into areas once shaped almost entirely by human judgement — hiring, forecasting, risk, resource allocation and decision-making itself.

Across ASEAN, adoption is advancing at different speeds, shaped by market readiness, regulation and organisational capability. The larger leadership question, however, is becoming common: as machines influence more decisions, what must remain firmly human?

Day 2 examines where organisations should draw that line, when human judgement must override the system, who remains accountable when AI gets it wrong, and how leaders govern technology without surrendering responsibility for its consequences.

    Leadership VOICES #3
When AI Gets It Wrong: Who Owns the Consequences?
Three focused 7-minute TED-style talks, followed by a facilitated interview.
AI is moving into decisions leaders have traditionally owned: what to forecast, whom to hire and which risks to carry. The central dilemma is no longer only whether to trust or overrule the machine, but who is accountable when it is confidently wrong. Drawing from ACES Institute’s 2026 research, leaders will examine decisions involving bias, ethical exposure, reputational risk and the pressure to move fast before governance is ready.
What this session unpacks: decisions leaders no longer make alone; moving first without being reckless; ownership when the machine is confidently wrong.

    Leadership VOICES #4
What Leaders Owe Their People When AI Changes the Work
Three focused 7-minute TED-style talks, followed by a facilitated interview.
AI adoption is not simply a technical upgrade; it is an organisational adjustment with real consequences for people. Across ASEAN’s uneven labour markets, leaders may need to reskill, redeploy, restructure or all three. This session asks what responsible leadership requires when efficiency gains carry a human cost — what to communicate, what to protect, what opportunities to create, and how the leader sets the tone when trust is fragile.
What this session unpacks: what AI asks of people; the human cost of transformation; how the leader sets the tone.

From Experiment to Enterprise: What Leadership Must Put in Place Before AI Can Scale
When AI and automation move from pilot projects into real enterprise operations, leaders must decide what can be automated and what must remain under human judgement and ownership. Organisations also need the right governance, accountability and workforce readiness around the technology, and scaling transformation without allowing speed to outrun trust or organisational readiness.
  8. 11:30 AM – 11:45 AM
    Spotlight Showcase #3
The Long View: What Changed After AI Got It Wrong
One organisation’s real AI journey - through a false start, a flawed decision or a moment of misplaced confidence that exposed the gap between adoption and accountability. This Spotlight traces what changed after: the guardrails, governance and capabilities introduced, and the decisions leaders chose not to delegate.

Which decisions should remain human-led even when AI is faster or more accurate - and why?
Roundtable Topic 2: Trust That Must Be Earned
What evidence would your organisation require before allowing AI to influence a high-stakes decision?
Roundtable Topic 3: What Leaders Owe Their People
When AI changes roles, what is a leader’s responsibility for reskilling, redeployment and the consequences of displacement?

Dr. Thanavath Phonvichai, occupies a rare position in Thai public life simultaneously - a rigorous academic, a nationally trusted institution builder, and one of the country's most recognisable economic voices. As President of the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, he leads an institution that sits at the intersection of private enterprise, academic research, and national development, making him one of the few leaders in the region whose decisions shape both the classroom and the boardroom at the same time.

As a nationally renowned economist, Dr. Thanavath has translated complex macroeconomic realities into actionable insight for Thailand's business community - from trade policy and SME competitiveness to sustainability transitions and the human impact of technological disruption. His research has informed policy discussions at the highest levels of Thailand's public and private sector leadership. As a regular economic commentator and spokesperson on national television, he has built a reputation for communicating with clarity, honesty, and calm authority - translating what is happening in the global economy into terms that business owners, students, and policymakers can act on.

Dr. Thanavath brings to this conversation not theory, but testimony: the experience of a leader who has had to decide, in real time, what an institution owes its people when the world changes faster than any curriculum can keep pace with.

Why This Summit Matters

Be part of the ACES leadership community.

Meet leaders who act, not just advise.

Trust must be earned, not declared.

ACES Institute’s 2026 research points to an uneven ESG reality across ASEAN: intent is real, but claims must now stand up to evidence, governance and scrutiny.

Boards and leaders are now part of both conversations.

ACES Summit 2026 brings them together around one central question: what does it take to build trust in an era of claims, algorithms and complexity?

Accountability cannot be automated.

As AI moves into hiring, risk, forecasting and operations, leaders must decide what can be delegated — and who owns the consequences when the system is wrong.
