PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL), is the second largest telecommunications company in Indonesia. With over 18 years of experience in the Indonesian market, XL is regarded as one of Indonesia’s premier cellular mobile Data and Telephony services providers.

XL is the only mobile operator with an extensive fibre optic network. When XL launched its 3G service in September 2006 it became the first operator to offer 3G services in Indonesia. XL is also credited with bringing cellular services to ordinary Indonesians. It introduced the budget “Rp1/second” programme in 2007 – providing more middle-and lower-income people with access to cellular telephone services.

XL developed from a small company offering basic telephony services into one of the country’s largest telecommunications companies, with extensive network infrastructure and services around the country. XL provides services for retail customers and offers business solutions to corporate customers.

We strive to be a socially responsible and sustainable business by offering our customers affordable products and services with wider coverage, and state-of-the-art customer centric touch points. At the same time, we recognise the importance of using telecommunications as a tool to empower local communities and maximise their potential. By partnering with multiple NGOs and relevant parties such as the government, educational institutions and the private sector to achieve our success, their outreach programmes have contributed positive results to both the organisation and stakeholders.

Being a good community citizen, XL has in place a Code of Conduct (Uncompromising Integrity & Exceptional Performance) that serves as documentation of their commitment to ensuring their business dealings are conducted in a manner that is efficient, effective and fair – to ensure that it is the responsibility of every employee to act in accordance with the company’s group code of conduct. XL call this “performance with a heart”.

Here are some community care projects that are being implemented within the company and the country.
XL Future Leaders
XL Future Leaders is designed to be an ongoing, multi-year effort that integrates various leaders and stakeholders within XL, as well as industry partners and other organisations throughout Indonesia that have leadership best practices. This begins with the involvement of our CEO, board of directors, and other top executives. Multiple times throughout the year students in the programme are exposed to these top leaders in order to make presentations and be challenged in their professional development. Additionally, we have broadened our stakeholder engagement through the partnering efforts of our core team of advisors and facilitators that were deliberately chosen for the diversity of their backgrounds and experiences. As a result, students are exposed not only to a variety of perspectives from our internal facilitator team, but also from speakers that are sent from top organisations such as the World Bank, UNICEF and Indonesia’s Ministry of Education. We also partner with universities throughout Indonesia through our annual University Roadshow.

XmartVillage Programme
XL XmartVillage is a Digital Services Solutions with corporate social responsibility initiatives. In this project, XL Axiata aims to provide a complete, enjoyable, and relaxed Digital Services experience for communities in the rural areas.

We are committed to reducing the impact of our operations on the environment despite continuous growth and expansion of our networks. We continue to support communities where we operate by making contributions towards their quality of life through implementing XL digital services solutions in the villages of Indonesia.

In collaboration with education and private sector bodies such as LPIK 1TB and PT lndismart, XL Axiata tries to raise the potential of the village both in human resources and natural resources. The XmartVillage programme brings many benefits to local communities. This leads to better welfare and improvement of their quality of life.

XL aims to integrate most of Indonesia through Digital Services innovative technology combined under the Xmart Village program. XL Xmart Village is a transformative, innovative, and effective solution to increase prosperity throughout Indonesia. XL Xmart Village is our first step towards building our XL Xmart City Vision. The XL Xmart Village programme started on 1 stMarch2014 in two villages in West Java, Indonesia, namely lbun Village – Kamojang and KaryaMekar Village – Darajat.
To close the gap between cities and villages and to implement the XmartVillage program, XL planned and implemented training and sustainable supervision for this XmartVillage programme to supply a wide variety of its Digital Services portofolio:
SMEsGo Mobile Programme
To assist small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to develop their business affordably and ‘out of the box’, XL Axiata provides digital service solutions to accommodate the needs of SMEs to grow their business and develop communities.

UMKM Goes Mobile provides two-way promotion of services: Location Based Advertising (LBA) which leverages the location of customer. In this LBA service, SMS and MMS are used for promotion. This is also done through Radio Streaming applications owned by some leading radio stations such as Geronimo, Delta, Radio FM, Cosmopolitan Female, Hard Rock FM, GenFM, JakFM, Urban FM.

By utilising UMKM Goes Mobile, it is easy for SMEs to promote their products, improve awareness, and leverage their media promotion channels. SM Es can reduce their marketing cost by using this service. Nowadays people mostly use their mobile phone and internet to search for references.

XL will continue this programme to support SMEs contribute further to the economy of Indonesia.
