As an electronic manufacturer, Sharp Indonesia is aware of the impact of electricity usage, and its corresponding carbon footprint. Thus, Sharp Indonesia strives to invent eco-friendly products, implement environmentally friendly operational processes and educate society of their role through CSR programmes. Sharp Indonesia’s main values in sustainability are founded in energy efficiency and nature conservation, and these transfer down into Sharp Indonesia’s daily maintenance and production processes to optimise energy efficiency without compromising quality.
In its mission to accomplish an eco-positive company and eco-friendly products for citizens, Sharp Indonesia has implemented several strategies on their home ground, such as regular environmental patrols to prevent environmental pollution, minimising waste with proper waste management, and encouraging Reduce, Re-use, Re-cycle.
Their internal stakeholders include top management that plays an active role to supervise overall business strategies and operations, including green policy management. These policies comply and fulfill the government regulations and are carried through throughout Sharp’s operations, from manufacturing to office processes, to prevent environmental pollution and increase energy-saving.
The Sharp Indonesia green policy which has been rolled out in all their offices help raise awareness and energy efficiency among employees going about their daily activities. For instance, employees are encouraged to practice simple and practical acts like saving paper by using used papers or switching off lamps during breaks. Sharp Indonesia holds regular trainings for its new and existing employees to induct them into the company’s green measures.
To drive its efforts internally, a dedicated sustainability team is assigned under the Building Utility Maintenance department to take management of the company’s building maintenance and execute green policy implementations. It is also tasked to oversees the office and factory’s energy and waste management.

These measures included installing solar panel to cover ±60 percent electricity usage within the office area, and replacing a total of 6,000 tube and mercury lamps with energy saving LED lamps. This initiative helped reduce energy consumption by 50 percent. The company also installed 48 units of energy efficient air-conditioning systems to regulate the office temperature to a constant of 24 ° C during operational hours to maximise energy efficiency.
In its manufacturing division, Sharp Indonesia undertook a water saving initiative by recycling leaked water from its washing machine production and re-using it for up to five cycles, resulting in savings of 788 m³/month.
The company’s eco-friendly technology is found in almost every Sharp product innovation.
