Geely Automobile Holdings Limited is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and the controlling shareholder is Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd, which is wholly owned by Mr. Li Shu Fu, the chairman of Geely, and his associate. Geely is an automobile manufacturer, focusing on development, manufacturing and sales of passenger vehicles. Geely sells most of its products in China and has also expanded its sales through export to other developing countries.
Based on Geely’s mission – “Make good cars that are the safest, most environmental-friendly and most efficient”, Geely devoted in the aspects of products, economy, environment and society to contribute to the sustainable development of society with practical actions. Community care is a cornerstone in Geely’s devotion in the society aspect, in which Geely commits on education, poverty alleviation and public charity by developing a number of community care and outreach programmes.

Inspired by the commitment on poverty alleviation by the government of the People’s Republic of China, Geely launched “JI SHI YU” as its core community care programme to realize the objective of “how to help” in poverty alleviation.

Striving for the goal of “Make the world feel love” with the understanding of poverty can only be alleviated by a combination of direct assistance to the vulnerable and stimulating the growth of impoverished areas, “JI SHI YU” focuses in four key areas which include industrial development, educational support, employment support and agricultural development.

Geely drives the local economic development and solves the employment issue by establishing manufacturing plants in less developed areas which also attract investments from suppliers of automobile parts and logistic service providers in these areas.
Geely provides financial aid for students in need to complete their studies in vocational colleges and universities. Geely also cooperates with local vocational and technical colleges to establish “Geely Classes” which aims to upgrade their educational resources as well as provide priority education to students in need.

Impoverished household were offered priority in employment by Geely and certain of its suppliers. Programmes were developed to help vulnerable in employment including donations to help handicapped people to realize flexible employment at home while increasing their annual income as well as investment in breeding cooperative to help people get rid of poverty.

Geely actively considers the needs of villages that require urgent assistance by providing agricultural equipment and facilities. Geely also purchased their agricultural products to help these villages developing into self-sustaining societies.

In 2016, Geely invested RMB 17.2 million in providing direct assistance for 3,190 people and helping 551 people to find jobs and get rid of poverty.
Geely plans to invest RMB 0.4-0.6 billion in a 3-5 year period, closely focuses on poverty families, with the measures of “poverty alleviation by industry, education, employment, and agriculture” to provide help to more than 12,000 poor families from 11 places of 7 provinces in China.

Geely believes that an enterprise without a sense of social responsibility will always be abandoned ruthlessly by the market in the end, and it is impossible for such enterprises to realize sustainable operation. They do not believe in capitalising on their community care programmes for business or branding benefits.

Corporate social responsibility is a core value of Geely and such core value is shared among their employees, business partners, and customers. Such sharing of core value is realized through the mechanism of “led by Geely, implemented by manufacturing plants, collaborated by business partners and customers, and participated by all employees”. This mechanism amplifies the culture spread and support to the people in need, and achieving Geely’s goal of “Make the world feel love”.
