about CPC Corporation, Taiwan

Prospering Taiwan together.

Oil and gas giant supports industrial and societal development in Taiwan.

CPC Corporation, Taiwan (CPC) was formally established in Shanghai on June 1, 1946. After the Republic of China government’s relocation to Taiwan in 1949, its headquarters was set up in Taipei and its allegiance transferred to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan.

CPC’s scope of business is carried out in workplaces throughout Taiwan, down to dealing with oil and natural gas; exploration and production, procurement and imports, refining, storage and transportation, marketing and sales; and the production of petrochemical raw materials.

The Company’s vision is to be a safe, clean and internationally competitive integrated energy enterprise, with a mission to provide customers with supreme quality, reliable energy supplies and services as a key contribution to Taiwan’s economic prosperity.

CPC’s Sustainable Operations Promotion Committee was established in 2005. The committee oversees sustainability in four major aspects, Environmental Protection and Ecological Conservation, Social Care, Policy and R&D and Environmental Accounting and Information. It pays constant attention to sustainability trends locally and abroad, contributes expertise on both strategic and operational levels and promotes sustainability of the organization as well as society.

Some of CPC’s sustainable targets and goals focus on renewable energy construction projects, smart and green ‘e-Stations’, a circular economy, water resource management, ecological conservation and sustainable development, among others.

On the community front, CPC’s primary community care initiatives and overarching community care strategy include care for the underprivileged and communities, green charity activities, and environmental education and promotion, with the ultimate goal of creating a harmonious society.

With regards to the initiative’s primary objectives, the short-term goals are to assist local governments in sponsoring infrastructure projects that the public appreciates ,and constantly promoting neighborhood work and assisting in local development to sustain neighborhood work.

Their medium and long-term goals are to maintain friendly understanding with communities around complexes and mines, sustain care for the vulnerable, and prosper with local residents, combine green operations, cultural and creative industries, community co-prosperity, as well as to build a brand-new image of green energy.

CPC has service locations deployed throughout the nation, making it an ideal neighbor and partner to local residents. CPC builds on this advantage by maintaining productive interaction with local communities and organizations, as well as contributing back to the neighborhood. In addition, they hold various charity activities and promote environmental education and sports sponsorship to fulfill its social care mandate within the community.

In response to the severe domestic Covid-19 pandemic situation, CPC provided six company venues in the second half of 2021 as the government’s Covid-19 vaccine administration stations and fully provided administrative support to assist front-line medical staff.

Since 1971, CPC has set up public toilets for passers-by in scenic spots, tourist attractions and gas stations on main roads, and has deeply cultivated the culture of public toilets. During the Covid-19 Nationwide Level 3 epidemic alert period in Taiwan, while most of the public toilets were temporally closed, CPC insisted on providing clean, bright and ventilated public toilets and strengthened efforts to arrest the spread of the virus, protecting the health of the public.

CPC’s long term involvement in emphasizing people-oriented toilet space and creating a clean toilet environment has impacted Taiwan’s urban civilization and propelled it towards the international level, in addition to addressing UN SDG 6 Clean Water and Sanitation.

CPC’s involvement in the community is also demonstrated by their social responsibility, actively caring for disadvantaged groups, building their “Kind Gas Stations”, and protecting disadvantaged group’s developments. In education, CPC continues their industry-academic cooperation with local universities, establishing the Xiao Gang High School science class, and continuously creating more successful University Corporate Social Responsibility (UCSR) examples.

“CPC’s Sustainable Operations Promotion Committee oversees sustainability in four major aspects, Environmental Protection and Ecological Conservation, Social Care, Policy and R&D and Environmental Accounting and Information. It pays constant attention to sustainability trends locally and abroad, contributes expertise on both strategic and operational levels and promotes sustainability of the organization as well as Taiwanese society.”
