Malaysians Win 'Top Outstanding Leaders In Asia' Award

SINGAPORE, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- Kulim Malaysia Bhd's managing director, Ahmad Mohamad, and Hatten Group Sdn Bhd's group managing director, Collin Tan June Teng, were named Top Outstanding Leaders in Asia along with Steven Tham of Leeden National Oxygen Ltd at the inaugural Asia Corporate Excellence and Sustainability (ACES) Awards 2014 here tonight.

ACES Awards 2014, organised by the MORS Group Malaysia, showcased some of Asia's finest and best corporate leaders.

The six-person Jury Panel comprised corporate leaders, consultants and experts.

Hemant Batra, chairman of jury panel, said any kind of growth was meaningless without excellence and sustainability.

"Corporate Sustainability signifies a viable future and passing on a better world to our children. It is a multi-dimensional holistic approach expected from the corporate world to grow but not to the detriment of future generations," he said.

Also under the leadership category, Woman Entrepreneur of the Year went to Pat Liew of fashion retailer BritishIndia, while the Young Entrepreneur of the Year was presented to an innovative recycler Seah Kian Hoe of Heng Hiap Industries Sdn Bhd, Malaysia.

Under the Sustainability Category, Great Eastern Life, Malaysia received Community Care Award for its contribution towards children's charities across Malaysia.

Sri Lanka's Hemas Holdings has over the years shown innovation in community involvement also grabbed similar award.

Top Companies to Work For in Asia went to Telkomsel Indonesia, with its 4,700 strong employee force across Indonesia, together with Mencast Holdings Ltd Singapore, and Globe Telecom, Philippines.

Tetra Pak Thailand emerged as the winner of Green Company of the Year category, while most Socially Responsible Company in Asia award went to Manila Electric (Philipines).
